Sci-Fi Soldier achieves flight - ¿How does he land?

I took my left hook fire punch effect and brought it into GIMP. After that I just messed around with brush types that I made myself and multiple layers. I really tried to make the fire look as stylized as possible. I made a sci-fi character and added some walls and floors (to give off a dutch tilt kind-of framing) then I colored-in the characters armor (and gave him some eye trails) and put some quick orange glow on the metal plating of the armor. I rotated the fire effect after polishing it up and warped it a bit to give off the impression of my character flying into frame at a strange angle.

My biggest problems with this one are the lack of a background (an industrial setting was what I had in mind) and how busy the overall picture is. When I go back to this one I want to make the yellow "Friction bolt" less noticeable and more transparent in appearance, as well as put in some factory appliances or tools to increase the level of detail in the background.
